New Amsterdam Presents is a new, non-profit presenting organization that carries the mission and spirit of New Amsterdam Records into the live performance realm. For nearly five years, New Amsterdam Records, operating as a non-profit-model record label that distributed 80% of album revenues directly to artists, has released albums of sophisticated, viscerally-engaging, all-original music, made by musicians who bring the breadth of their musical experience into the playing, writing, and producing on their albums. New Amsterdam Presents was formed to bring that music directly to a live audience, widening the scope of projects we represent to include not just musicians from our label but encompassing artists from many different scenes, often working in collaborations across musical communities. We recently completed our first annual online fundraising drive, raising over $10k in a little over a week. To all those who contributed – thank you! Please see the full list of patrons below. For those interested in supporting our organization, please see the “donate” link/button below. Though we plan to have one dedicated online fundraiser per year, we eagerly accept donations year-round. As part of New Amsterdam Presents’ first official year, New Amsterdam is for the first time turning to the thousands of fans who have supported our artists — listening to records, attending live shows, and spreading the word by telling their friends, writing and blogging and posting and tweeting — and asking for your help in supporting this new endeavor.
    New Amsterdam Presents strives to:
  • Widen the reach of innovative, independent music that speaks to both classical and popular traditions
  • Curate innovative concerts that bring together likeminded artists from different communities
  • Build networks of broad-minded, creative presenters in partnerships to offer regional, national, and international tours
  • Raise the public’s awareness of new classical and mixed-genre music that is sophisticated, challenging and viscerally stimulating
  • Work with orchestras and other traditional classical music organizations to engage new audiences and develop new models of programming
New Amsterdam Presents makes our home in a wide variety of spaces: concert halls and clubs, indoors and outdoors, art spaces and universities, and anywhere that people are gathering together to listen. We’d love to come to your community and we need your help to get there.

Artist Testimonials

“New Amsterdam has not only become the focal point but the primary support network of the new music community. Through New Amsterdam I was able to tour extensively throughout America and Europe, and collaborate with some of my favorite musicians on the Ecstatic Music Festival. Given the fragile and ever-changing nature of the music industry, I don’t know that I would have bothered go on tour without an organization like New Amsterdam to back me up. For the first time in my life I feel that I am have significant support for my most ambitious and far-reaching ideas.”Missy Mazzoli, Composer/Performer, Victoire

“By championing artists at the start of their professional careers, New Amsterdam has succeeded in building previously unimagined pathways between the diverse creative scene in Brooklyn and the broader musical community. New Amsterdam is a source of a new energy and can-do optimism that has already changed how young composers think about their music, their careers, and their audiences. This is a great time for new classical music, and New Amsterdam seems determined to tell the world.”Gregory Spears, Composer, Requiem

“The NewAm organization has been a tremendous source of help and exposure for me over the years. They think big, and always seem to deliver cutting-edge music in unique and unexpected settings. They have a rare vision, integrity, and a dogged persistence that creates opportunities for musicians to share their work with new audiences worldwide. They’ve fast become an essential part of the budding scene of genre-bending groups in NYC and continue to bring together some of the most interesting programming I know of.”Sam Sadigursky, Composer/Performer/Bandleader

“New Amsterdam is a vital cooperative that provides a viable outlet for composers and artists whose work does not readily conform to the molds provided by other popular and institutionalized arts organizations.”Andrew McKenna Lee, Composer/Performer

“New Amsterdam Records has become akin to a force of nature in just a few years. As a system of people organized toward a common cause, New Amsterdam is a wonderful example of success reached through collectivity of creative vision. I, for one, am immensely grateful to be a part of the community.”Jody Redhage, Composer/Performer

“New Amsterdam Records provides a platform and a community for engaged contemporary musicians and music audiences to gather around the same fire and share with and learn from each other.”Greg Beyer, Performer, Due East
