Just Announced: Vocal octet Roomful of Teeth to perform free show at Lincoln Center’s David Rubenstein Atrium October 4th at 10:30PM Part of Lincoln Center’s Target® Free Thursdays series Roomful of Teeth’s self-titled debut album out October 30th on New Amsterdam Records.

Pioneering vocal ensemble Roomful of Teetha group of eight classically trained vocalists dedicated to re-imagining singing in the 21st century–has just announced a special free performance on Thursday, October 4th at 10:30PM at the David Rubenstein Atrium at Lincoln Center, located on Broadway between 62nd and 63rd Streets in NYC.

The event is part of Lincoln Center’s Target® Free Thursdays series, and will give the public an exclusive opportunity to preview Roomful of Teeth’s self-titled debut album, out October 30th on New Amsterdam Records. New music ensemble Ne(x)tworks will also perform earlier in the evening at 8:30PM.

Roomful of Teeth will showcase its astounding dexterity in singing traditions from all over the globe, including Tuvan throat singing, belt and pop techniques, yodeling, Inuit throat singing, and styles from Sardinia and Korea. They will perform works by composers William Brittelle, Caleb Burhans, Rinde Eckert, Merrill Garbus (tUnE-yArDs), Judd Greenstein, Caroline Shaw, and Sarah Kirkland Snider, all of which feature on the group’s new album, as well as the New York premiere of new works by composer Missy Mazzoli.

Praised for being “unlike anything you’ve ever seen before” by WBUR Boston, Roomful of Teeth has also headlined three times at NYC’s celebrated Ecstatic Music Festival, was the winner of the 2010 American Prize, and has been an annual resident at the Massachusetts Museum of Contemporary Art (MASS MoCA). Click here to stream their performance with Glasser at the 2012 Ecstatic Music Festival via WQXR/Q2 Music.
